One of the most inventive artists in probably the most creative scene in the world, the man from Santos, São Paulo shows why there’s no one else like him on SonarMix 065. The impressive range of baile funk - creative sampling, booming bass, hyped-up MCs, infectious vocal loops - is on full display across 62 minutes that should have you running to Lisbon to catch his set Sónar Lisboa 2025.

While baile funk’s anarchic approach to sampling has always drawn attention, MU540 takes it to the next level. He approaches production - and DJing - like an alchemist, blending different genres in search of dancefloor gold. While he’s clearly an expert on baile funk’s myriad variants - from brega funk and bruxaria to volt and funk mineiro - here he shows off his range of tastes, dipping into UK garage, deep house, grime, and even ending with a blast of bagpipes(!). And of course, it’s all mixed to perfection: across the hour he moves from smooth and soulful to hyped-up party anthems with effortless ease.
