ZenGxrl’s sets are exercises in eclecticism. Growing up on the outskirts of Lisbon, she’s always stayed close to her Angolan roots, but also connects with a wider range of global sounds. Just as likely to mash up UK funky into batida as she is to mix Kendrick Lamar with amapiano, or blend gqom with baile funk, she’s a dynamic DJ whose motto is to let the energy flow. She comes to Sónar Lisboa 2024 to perform as part of the Enchufada showcase, one of a new wave of selectors who are connecting the city’s batida and kuduro heritage with the diverse currents of the global afro club underground.
