As Perel, Annegret Fiedler narrates her daydreams through electronic music. Before finding fame, the multi-faceted German producer, vocalist and DJ sang in punk and alternative bands, inspired by listening to the likes of Aphex Twin, Kraftwerk and The Cure. On moving to Berlin, the young new wave and post-punk fan immersed herself in the city’s nightlife, discovering club culture, house and techno, and also taking on the stage name she still uses to this day. Known for her hybrid sets, in which she sings and DJs at the same time, at Sónar Lisboa 2024 she’ll transport us to the extraterrestrial universe she explored on her latest album Jesus Was an Alien: a heady blend of italo disco, acid and new wave.
