Brothers Bandile and Banele Mbere have been representing the music of their native South Africa for well over a decade now, from kwaito to afrobeats to gqom. But it’s their promotion of amapiano - the jazzy, laidback variant of house that emerged from the country in recent years - that they’re most associated with. They’ve worked to promote the genre like few others, both through their own hip-hop influenced productions and deft collaborations with the likes of Diplo, as well promoting other talent via their Balcony Mix series and Major League Gardens festival.
